The father of Sara Sharif has reportedly been assaulted in prison, less than a month into serving his life sentence.

In December, Urfan Sharif was convicted of the brutal murder of his 10-year-old daughter, Sara, at their Surrey home in the United Kingdom.

Following his conviction, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Sara’s stepmother, Beinash Batool, was also handed a life sentence for her role in the tragic events that led to the young girl’s death.

Sara’s body was discovered in August 2023, prompting her father and stepmother to flee to Pakistan shortly afterward.

However, they were later apprehended and brought back to face justice. Both were sentenced on December 17, 2024.

Since then, Urfan has been serving his sentence at HMP Belmarsh, a high-security prison in London known for holding inmates involved in infamous and high-profile cases.

Reports have emerged that Urfan Sharif was attacked by two inmates just a few weeks into his sentence.

The incident occurred on New Year’s Day and involved the use of a jagged tuna can lid, which the attackers used to inflict injuries on Urfan.

According to The Sun, the 43-year-old suffered cuts to his neck and face during the altercation and was treated within the prison’s medical facility.

It is understood that Urfan was not transported to a hospital for further treatment.

A Prison Service spokesperson commented on the situation, saying: “Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh on January 1. It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.”

Adding further details, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that an investigation into the assault is ongoing.

The police described the injuries sustained by the 43-year-old as non-life-threatening.

During Urfan’s trial in December, the court was presented with harrowing details of the abuse Sara endured.

The court heard that the young girl suffered “unimaginable pain, misery, and anxiety” due to relentless beatings, burns, bites, and physical restraint inflicted upon her in her own home.

Alongside Urfan and Beinash, Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, aged 29, was also found guilty of causing or allowing her death. He received a 16-year prison sentence.

In a televised sentencing, Mr. Justice Cavanagh described Sara’s death as “the culmination of years of neglect, frequent assaults, and what can only be described as torture.”

The abuse, he said, was inflicted primarily by her father and occurred openly in the presence of the rest of the family.

On the day Sara was killed, Urfan reportedly called the police to justify his actions, claiming that he had “legally punished” the young girl.

When authorities arrived, they found Sara’s body showing signs of severe trauma.

The injuries included burns, probable human bite marks, broken bones, and extensive bruising, painting a horrifying picture of the suffering she had endured.
